Belle Vue

This is a small civil parish in Cumberland ward, and the petty sessional division of that name, poor-law union, county court and rural districts of Carlisle, deanery of Carlisle N., and the county council electoral division of St. Cuthbert's Without. For ecclesiastical purposes Belle Vue is comprised within the parish of St. Mary, Carlisle. Its entire length is about 2½ miles, breadth 1 mile, and area 927 acres. At the last census the population numbered 276. For rating purposes the land is valued at £1,058, and the buildings at £793; and the gross estimated rental is returned at £2,092. The principal landowners are Nicholas Thompson, Orton Parks, and the Exors. of Catherine Barnes.
